intel iv50 codec problems (vid_iv50.ax missing) [probably no solution]

Running arch64, when i try to play the video on this link:
http://archives.free.net.ph/message/200 … f2.en.html (direct link to avi - http://members.dslextreme.com/users/dko … 20x240.avi)

I get an error on mplayer/smplayer indicating that the file vid_iv50.ax is not found.  Kaffeine refuses to play the video at all, and vlc does not play it either.  This happens with all intel iv50 videos.  I have tried a lot of the codec packages in aur, none of them contain this file, and the video does not play.

I have tried ffmpeg, mplayer-w32codecs, codecs-all, none of them contain or play this video file type.  i even downloaded the mplayer codec pack available in the mplayer page, to no avail.  I have tried kaffeine, smplayer, mplayer, and vlc.  As far as I can tell this is the only codec not playing.

- Can anyone else verify this file doesnt play, and if it does play, can you do "pacman -Qs codec" and tell me which codec pack you have installed?
- If you're running arch32 does the file play for you?
- If you're on arch64, does it play for you, or does it give an error/no video?

That codec is in the 32 bit codecs package. I can't test it because I'm on 64 bit.

All of the information I'm finding is telling me the IV50 codec only works on 32bit.  Guess I'm SOL unless someone else can get it working.

Yeah. All of the codecs in the codecs package are MS dll files. Due to lack of Windows 64 bit support, the 64 bit codecs package is basically Real Media stuff, of which almost everything is in FFmpeg subversion now except for RV30.

Bump. I feel like I derailed this thread a bit, so I'll fix it.

Can someone here on 32 bit with Mplayer and the 'codecs' package installed test the above file and see if it works?

Plays fine here with i686 mplayer+codecs

Re: intel iv50 codec problems (vid_iv50.ax missing) [probably no solution]

I think the few iv50 videos I have are not worth going back to i686 arch, so I'll just archive them for now until (or if) a solution ever comes up.  I suppose I could try and get and bin32 mplayer or something to convert them, does anyone have experience with that? maybe ffmpeg for the conversion?

Bump.

More Indeo codecs including iv50 are being factored into FFmpeg right now. The review process has begun:

Anybody know how far they are incorporating iv50 into ffmpeg?

It seems to be either stalled or is waiting for the Indeo 2/3 rewrite to be finished. The latter is taking a long time. There are updates now and then, but none of them specifically for 5.

Bump.

A working indeo5 (iv50) decoder just went up for review in FFmpeg:

indeo5 was added to FFmpeg trunk today. It works.
