FPS ~1 on UrbanTerror

As the title says, my FPS is about 1 on UrbanTerror.

On main menu FPS is kinda good. But when I join game, FPS drops and stays on 1 all the time. Even if I disconnect. And problem remains as long as computer is on. So if I try to start UrbanTerror again, FPS is around 1 even on main menu.

I'm using Arch Linux on ASUS EEE PC 901. But I'm sure that the problem is not related to computer's performance, because OpenArena and Warcraft III are running enough fine. But I want to say that when FPS has been dropped to ~1 after UrbanTerror, it is also about 1 on OpenArena (didn't test WC3).

I read FAQ through quickly, but didn't find any solutions. Or am I just blind? big_smile

Console output (started game and then quit, FPS is already on ~1):

Re: FPS ~1 on UrbanTerror

yes, your problem is the computer's performance...

urbanterror doesnt work fine on my low profile dual core with 1gb of ram and an intel graphics. you need descent hardware acceleration for it to work.

Re: FPS ~1 on UrbanTerror

Have you tried setting all options to the lowest they can go?

OpenArena is working fine (well, 30-40FPS, playable). And OpenArena is open-source clone to Quake III. So they are using exactly same game-engine and graphics are somehow same. So why OpenArena works but UrbanTerror (which is Quake III mod) does not?

gonna install open arena then and give it a go....all i know is UT does NOT work acceptably with a dcore and intel onboard graphics (GMA945)

apparently the engine means nothing concerning requirements......open arena works quite well on the same notebook that cant handle urban terror. so there.

Re: FPS ~1 on UrbanTerror

The newest xf86-video-intel driver doesn't work well, because we're lacking a GEM enabled kernel. When 2.6.28 is in core intel users will eventually get good performance. Until then use old xorg and xorg related packages (intel-dri, libgl, etc..)

Re: FPS ~1 on UrbanTerror

I run UrbanTerror with about relatively consistent ~40fps(depending on the map and perspective) with an Intel 945GM. The key is to, at least for now, probably downgrade video-related packages(downgrading, of course, is a risky process, but in my case, it was necessary). The packages and the process of downgrading(again, dodgy and very much a last-resort) are detailed in the topic I created in the Pacman forum section.
