Thinkpad ATA Errors and CD Burning Problems

I've lost CD burning in Brasero and ImgBurn on my desktop (see this thread: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=60892), and now I've lost it on my laptop too, with a bunch of ATA errors on booting up. My laptop also stalled on the IBM bootscreen, which it has never done before.

Can someone please tell me what's going on with arch and these removable media devices? Is there some secret package or configuration somewhere that I need so i can burn CDs again? What is this PolicyKit.conf, and how come there are no instructions anywhere on what it does or how to configure it? Is arch damaging my burners to cause these ATA errors?

Re: Thinkpad ATA Errors and CD Burning Problems

That sounds like some driver/program update caused that, try to revert to an older version of the kernel/program and see if it works again ... can't think of anything else.
