I've been install last mplayer/smplayer from repos. I have been checked the option to disable the screensaver but Mplayer/SMplayer don't do so. The version installed:
SMPlayer v. 0.6.5.1 (SVN r2237)
MPlayer 1.0rc2-4.3.2
On the terminal appears this:
Debug: [11:34:16] MplayerProcess::parseLine: 'xscreensaver_disable: Could not find XScreenSaver window.'
Any ideas?

There are and have been numerous bug reports about this in all the major distros. If you search, you can find all kinds of hacks and possible solutions for this, myself I just disable the screensaver. Here's 1 link for you: http://smplayer.berlios.de/forums/viewtopic.php?id=329
Edit: This is more a "gnome and let's make a zillion different types of changing screensaver protocols" than a mplayer issue.

Use gnome-player. Mplayer used to have a patch to disable it but it got removed cause it was rejected upstream. You can probably still find it in SVN if you wanna build your own package.

There shouldn't be any reason to learn more editor types than emacs or vi -- mg (1)

+1. gnome-mplayer with gecko-mediaplayer for the web plug-in.

Or you can add
heartbeat-cmd="gnome-screensaver-command -p"
to ~/.mplayer/config. Although I think that only works with newer svn snapshots than the package in extra....

running xscreensave as a background process, and let it to give you a decent power control.

I've been try add heartbeat-cmd to mplayer config, but unfortunately don't work on the version on repos. I tried play on gnome-mplayer and the disable screensaver works. Thank you for your replies.
