Mouse vanishes after switching from X to TTYn and back

Hello everyone

I am using Arch for almost two months now on my good ol' Dell Latitude labtop, and (comming from Slackware) I am quite satisfied with it. However, I discovered a little flaw somewhere in my configuration. I have absolutely no idea where the source could be: When I switch back to X from a TTY-Terminal my touch pad does not work anymore. I can still move the cursor with the track point, but I cannot press any button. When I then switch to the terminal I started X from, I can read the message: "(EE) AlpsPS/2 ALPS DualPoint TouchPad: Device has changed - disabling." When I restart X everything is just fine again. So, this is not really a problem, but an annoyance.

I could not find much in the web about it. Does anyone has some hints for me?

Thank you all very much in advance

Is the gpm service running?

As an alternative, are you using qingy or some other directfb app?

Hello patroclo7

Thank you for your answer! I do not run gpm nor any DirectFB application.
