Problem 1) I can't hear anything unless my speakers are cranked as loud as they can go, and even then the sound is usually barely audible. I checked alsamixer, it's at 100%, what can I do to make it louder?
Problem 2) For some unknown reason, I can't get any sound on some videos, including when I'm watching a DVD on my computer or trying to watch most of my anime. I tried installing any codec I could find, but that hasn't helped. Any ideas?
Thanks for any input on either problem.

It almost sounds like it's not using the right sound card. What does alsamixer say the card is? Have you disabled the pcspkr and snd_pcsp in your /etc/rc.conf MODULES array? Some people, including myself, had their sound cards hijacked by snd_pcsp after a kernel upgrade awhile ago--a shot in the dark maybe. ![]()
