Vmware -- X stuck, no mouse, arch frozen

Ok, i installed the x64 build as a vm. I have all the basics setup and network working fine. However when i try to start X with xorg (X -config /root/xorg.conf.new) it starts with the "X" in the middle of the blank screen but frozen. It wont move and no keyboard commands work. I can only restart it through vmware to get it back! Any ideas?

I have installed and configured xorg.conf.new with the vmware video drives, set the horiz and vert rates, etc, but so far cant get X working. Tried ctl-alt-back which does not work either.

I have not been able to get the open vmware tools installed yet either, but not sure if thats part of the problem? I am using vmware 6.5.1.

Any ideas?

Edit: Nevermind...I fixed it. I was missing a quote in here:

Section "ServerFlags"
    Option "AutoAddDevices" "False"
EndSection

its working so far big_smile

Seems there is issues with evdev on vmware.
Trying using hwd -x to generate xorg.conf. It should work.. But the mouse, the way it reacts.. is something i don't like..

Trying that, i get many errors similar to this:

sed: cant read 1/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:16.2/uevent: No such file or directory

I think there are still some issues...I am setting up the xorg config files and got xterm to start but now the mouse is stuck there too..

Trying to run xterm, i get cant open display, display not set.
startx opens several xterm windows, but the mouse and kb are frozen

Well, i finally configured openbox and it seems to be working so far, so I guess everything in the xinitrc must be ok? . cool
