Is there an app for linux that allows me to edit a file simultaneously with a friend? Not as in revision control software, it would be more like a text editor, but I could see what my friend is typing in "real-time".
A quick google search hasn't returned anything, but maybe I'm searching with the wrong keywords...
TIA

How about a shared screen session, running vim or some other terminal text editor?
Here is the first tutorial about it I found on Google.

+1 for screen
Or dtach. It can share sessions too (not sure about over multiple accounts) and it's simpler.

I'll take a look in these ones.
I've already tried gobby. My friend created the session and gave me his IP address (and the port number he's using) but when I try to join it, gobby says that couldn't find the host.
Anyway, thanks guys.

Is he behind a router? Maybe he needs to forward the ports
