Hello,
I have a problem with GNOME's power manager on my Thinkpad T400.
I set the power manager to blank the screen after some idle time.
The problem: It won't turn back on! Even trying to switch to a virtual consone
doesn't help. The system seems to run fine without the screen though, hdd leds blink,
things that ought to run do run.
Strangely, the following works flawlessly:
xset dpms force off; sleep 2; xset dpms force on
acpid is running, I couldn't find anything helpful in any logfiles.
For the record, here is my xorg.conf:

Very common problem with thinkpads.. have a look here.
I just realized that you only mentioned idling instead of suspending, but maybe that wiki will help anyway.

Thanks for the hint,
but although suspend does not work either, there is no problem with the screen.
X simply freezes after suspend.
My problem here only comes up when the system is idling.
EDIT:
OK, this seems to be a compiz issue. Disabling compiz makes the screen blanking
work again.
EDIT 2:
The problem was solved.
It was an issue in the mesa package, Ubuntu had it patched.
I created a new pkgbuild for Arch that incorporates the patch, should anyone else
experience this problem.

I'm having the same problem with the mesa package. The link for the patch is not working. Is there anyway you could point me to a working patch?
