ispell/aspell problem: no word list for the language en-US

I posted this in "newbie" corner, but it was overwhelmed by new topics soon... Sorry if you saw this there...

I use Auctex in emacs to edit tex files. It seems the spell check does not work. Whenever I want to check spell, it says:

no word list for the language en-US

If I change the dictionary to "english" and try it again, it will say:

The file "/usr/lib/aspell-0.60/english" can not be opened for reading.

Anyone has any idea for this? Thanks a lot!
