Install imagemagick and run e.g.
for i in /folder/*; do convert -resize 50% -quality 80 $i $i; doneFor more details: man convert.

Why not use mogrify (also in imagemagick) and skip the script?
mogrify -resize 50% -quality 80 /path/to/dir/*My Arch Linux Stuff • Forum Etiquette • Community Ethos - Arch is not for everyone
