Install arch64 from within arch32

Hi.

What is the best way to do so? I tried it like this but with x86_64 mirrors. But pacman allways loads i686 packages. What should I do?

Merry christmas, Andreas

I haven't tried it yet but you could try to use virtualbox and tell it to use the partition where you want to install arch64 and use the arch64 iso.
Virtualbox should be able to do that (according to their changelogs) ... just an idea thought.

VirtualBox is not able to use a native partition, i think. I don't know how at least. I found my brothers usb stick so I used this one...

Yes it is able to use a native partition wink
Check the manual "9.9 Using a raw host hard disk from a guest" you can use either partitions or the whole disk.
My only doubt is about running a 64bit guest from a 32bit host, thats new, I don't know how well that works.

I recently used an almost identical method described here to install Arch x86_64 on a linode from within another i686 installation. The whole process went very smoothly, better than I anticipated.

I'm not sure why it doesn't work for you, but could you give the guide I linked above a try? Just reverse the architectures and you should be fine. smile
