the install kernel option is missing from arch linux installation menu, so there's only six options. What could be causing this problem?
ftp://mirrors.portafixe.com/archlinux/iso/latest/ <-- that's the mirror i downloaded from.

There is no install kernel option in the menu. It's installed like any other package.

There is no "install kernel" option in /arch/setup. The kernel is installed along with all other packages.
These should be the options in the menu:
"0" "Select Source" \
"1" "Set Clock" \
"2" "Prepare Hard Drive" \
"3" "Select Packages" \
"4" "Install Packages" \
"5" "Configure System" \
"6" "Install Bootloader" \
"7" "Exit Install"
See the very bottom of http://projects.archlinux.org/?p=instal … up;hb=HEAD
