I skipped setting up the bootloader at installation
your /boot/grub is empty when skipping this (except menu.lst)
copy this files before installing grub :
cp /usr/lib/grub/i386-pc/* /boot/grub/
("i386-pc" should be different if you are using x86_64)
take time to daydream, inspiration comes ...

I am on x86_64 and only see a i386 directory. Must be same thing??? No...

I didn't know, I'm only using 32bit archlinux. that was just in case it was in a another directory

I'm on 32-bit Arch. So it's fine for me.
And kernel 2.6.28 was just released yesterday, when do new kernels come in the repos? (since I'm too lazy to compile myself )
