intel driver problem

hi guys! i recently put arch on my intel celeron 350 gig ram 30 gig hdd.
im using the xf86-video-intel driver, but when i test the server, it ends up with
space:28 wanted 32
fatal server error:lockup
i think this has to do with a bug, and the solution is probably to downgrade my intel driver, but i cant seem to find an older version.

Might not be the fix you were looking for but did you try xf86-video-vesa? I'n not sure if that will change the space wanted or not but it should be the most basic driver and work with most anything (at least that's what they tell me).

i replaced intel with vesa in the driver entry of xorg.conf.new, but then when i test the server, the x comes up with this big red square below it, but it wont respond to my mouse, and i have to force reboot. then, i remove xf86-video-intel, and then when i test server it says it cant find module intel and no screens found.

What's your xorg.conf? And please give more detailed error output from Xorg.0.log.

Are you sure that the xorg.conf you posted is the one that belongs to the logfile? It says

(++) Using config file: "xorg.conf.new"

and it certainly does not attempt to load the intel driver, but just goes ahead and loads vesa.
