quake3 freezes sometimes after switch to oss

Hi,
today I switched from alsa to oss, because with alsa, I can't have any other sound when playing quake3. But now quake3 sometimes freezes. It begins loading all the stuff and then just stops. I switch to a tty and kill it. Nothing really gets logged. There is a warning, but I think that is also there when the game starts fine:

I'm starting the game like this

quake3 +connect <ip> +password "<pass>" +set cl_punkbuster 1 +set fs_game osp +set r_glDriver "/usr/lib/libGL.so"

The libGL stuff is there because I had another error before (which didn't affect anything as far as I noticed). The option removes the error but I don't think it has anything to do with my problem.
I grepped for quake in /var/log but I just can't find anything.

Any help appreciated.

try to use ioquake binaries instead of quake3. ioquake works perfect with alsa.

And I can play with other people using q3 and osp? But well, I found this http://nullkey.ath.cx/~stuff/et-sdl-sound/ which works. Not with teamspeak though. Guess I'll just buy a Sound Blaster Live and use hardware mixing.
edit: Well I just read that punkbuster isn't supported. So that's the end of that story smile
