After installing with the new 2008.12 image on my HP 6730b notebook i get a non system disk or disk error message after reboot, sata mode is set to AHCI in the bios, does anyone have any idea?

Re: Grub not installing correctly

Tried another install, this time installing grub to the /boot partition instead of the MBR, and the same thing happens, non system disk or disk error...

Re: Grub not installing correctly

I read some where that for the latest Arch build some bios gives the problem and you can not proceed further after grub> line. It is better to use 2008.3 build and upgrade your system. Since Arch is a rolling release big_smile

Re: Grub not installing correctly

Thanks for the tip kgas, i'll try the 2008.06 or earlier build and see if it changes anything.

Re: Grub not installing correctly

Unfortunately, the same thing happens, install finishes perfectly, then i reboot the machine and get greeted with the non system disk error, but if i boot the install using the arch install cd using arch root=/dev/sda3, everything works...

edit: it seems the problem is a little bit heavier than i first thought, i just tried grub, grub2, and lilo, all with the same result, please, i'm going crazy here, does anyone have any idea why i can't get along with the boot loaders... sad
