Acer Aspire One install stalls on hwdetect.

I'm trying to install Arch on my 160GB AA1. I used Unetbootin to cook the drive, booted it up and it stalls while detecting the hardware. I get the following message.

EIP: [<c02b7ee2>] dev_driver_string+0x2/0x30 SS:ESP 0068:f7c35d6c
---[ end trace c676cafe424869b2 ]---
/sbin/hwdetect: line 336: 506 Segmentation fault modprobe $i > /dev/null 2>&1
ath_hal: module license 'Proprietary' taints kernel.
ath_hal: 0.9.30.13 (AR5210, AR5211, AR5212, AR5416, RF5111, RF5112, RF2413, RF5413, RF2133)
wlan: trunk
ath_pci: trunk

Is there a solution for this? I googled and searched the forums but found nothing relevant to installation. Can I disable the wifi card with a boot switch or something else? I don't need the Atheros card as I have an external ALFA card. Thanks

Re: Acer Aspire One install stalls on hwdetect.

you can blacklist the module by placing ! in MODULES section of rc.conf

Re: Acer Aspire One install stalls on hwdetect.

Can I do that while (or before) the installer is booting? If so, how?

Re: Acer Aspire One install stalls on hwdetect.

You can edit the rc.conf by using a livecd on another distro.
