Is it possible to change keyboard mapping in HAL? (not using xmodmap)

Hi,

I use xmodmap to re-map "Caps Lock" to "Return" by the following commands:

remove lock = Caps_Lock
keycode 66 = Return

And now, Xorg is getting input device information from HAL, I wonder if it is possible to merge the above configuration in to HAL configuration (ie. /etc/hal/fdi/policy/10-keymap.fdi)

I've read this:
http://people.freedesktop.org/~hughsien … p-try.html
which is used to re-map multi-media keys (etc.)

But I still don't get a clear clue...
Does anyone get any idea?

BR,
Henry

bump~

I have heard someone suggesting to invoke "xmodmap" in ".xinitrc",
but don't know how, it doesn't work for me. I am using XFCE4.
So now I have to command "xmodmap" in Terminal every time. sad

Thanks.

You could try running xfce4-autostart-editor and entering your commands there.  It's a hack, but if it works, it'll save you some typing until you find a better solution.
