What is your preferred way to read PDF files on linux? I am running archlinux (of course) x86_64 so adobe reader doesn't work, i got it to build from aur by adding the my arch to the arch line, but it won't run, so need a different one, would LOVE to be able to open it up right in the browser instead of seperate if possible. Im using 64bit firefox.

Try okular (KDE) or evince (Gnome), or even xpdf, hehe :-)

acroread is availible in the AUR, great for in browser PDF viewing, but not readily availible for 64-bit as far as I know (correct me if I'm wrong) otherwise, I use xpdf, it's lightweight and works very well.
Hofstadter's Law:
It always takes longer than you expect, even when you take into account Hofstadter's Law.

You might try http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=7906 for using Acrobat Reader on 64-bit. It uses 32-bit libs and isn't a true 32-bit app, but that shouldn't matter.
I use evince w/ GNOME, but you can also use it without. It has the best speed and features of GTK readers. I'm not sure which is best on the KDE side of things.

I used to use epdfview when I was on Arch 64. Definitely not a browser plugin though.

Madly in love with Arch64, Openbox, DotA, and of course... penguins!
Happy to help if you're not a Help Vampire. Use your wonderful resources like ArchWiki, Google, and our wonderful search page.

Same here:
epdfview
evince
okular
xpdf
...they've all worked fine for me in the past and I prefer any of them over acroread.

I don't mean to be rude by closing this, but the "best PDF reader" thread comes up all the time. There's only been one new one that I can think of in a very long time, and apparently it's pretty early in its development.
