It's not working here. Is it incompatible with Vimperator?
Anyway, for the second option (opening without menu), you can use Vimperator:
map <C-1> t http://...<cr> It's a lot more flexible too (like opening multiple sites)
It'd be nice if this addon could use all your current bookmarks and display it nicely with submenus (maybe from a certain branch onward)
Well I'm pretty happy with the bookmarks bar though, except when I accidentally middle click a folder while trying to close a tab and opening dozens of tabs.

Not tried Vimperator, just found this easy to use... hide those bars :-)

This is what I use. But it occurred to me earlier that such an addon is very much useless. Just make a custom HTML-page with your bookmarks sorted the way you want and set it as your homepage
I'm planning to do that...
Well, I guess this might not suit YOUR browsing habits, but I just ctrl+t (+t because of ratpoison) and click the page I want, and if I've just opened Firefox I already have the bookmarks page open.
This addon does work with Vimperator, but like I said, making a custom HTML page and setting it as your homepage might be way better.
E: And thanks Mr Green, for asking about hiding the Firefox scrollbar earlier, I found your post and the solution with Google accidentally and I'm loving it
