Audio player on Via-Epia M

Hello,
I'd like to install Arch on a small machine that I intend to use as an audio player. The box will be  connected to a good old  Amplifier+loudspeakers. This is mainly to read internet radio streams, sometime also to read so ogg or mp3 music files. The machine  has a VIA processor Epia-M.
Do you have any suggestion about what to install on it ?
Will the arch i586 work on it ?
Olivier

Re: Audio player on Via-Epia M

well as far as playing music i seen lot of ppl using mpd and for the frontend like mpc or sonata. if im correct u should have no problem with i686 build since it is a modern processor so i see no reason why not its not an ancient processor your using correct me if im wrong some one else.

Re: Audio player on Via-Epia M

Thanks for your answer okplayer02,
I have tried already to install i686 arch, but it stops at boot with an error about the "cmov" instruction that it does not recognize.
As the "i586" page seems confusing and pretty outdated, I'll probably have to install some other distribution sad
Thanks for the other hints

Yes I did.
cvsup, libol packages does not exist. Don't know what they are used for.
There is no/etc/abs/abs.conf , no  /var/abs directory.

Re: Audio player on Via-Epia M

you to have abs installed on your system.

pacman -S abs

this how you build the packages on your system.

Re: Audio player on Via-Epia M

thanks for pointing me out this "abs".
I have used  "makepkg" until now without the need for "abs" package.
But still, the cvsup and libol package are missing.

Re: Audio player on Via-Epia M

Take a look at my Archlinux i586 project

http://code.google.com/p/archlinux-i586/

I've a VIA Epia 800 (older than your Epia-M) running Archlinux-i586
