Hi, I already had xf86-video-ati installed for my ATI vedio card. It works but not so great. So I want to try the ATI Catalyst proprietary driver. When I run "pacman -s catalyst" it shows that libgl conflicts. But it's hard to remove libgl because too many software require it. Anyone know an easier way for me to switch to Catalyst?
Thank you!

You can use pacman -Rd to remove only a single package.

pacman -Rd xf86-video-ati
pacman -S catalyst
aticonfig --initial -f
reboot

pacman -Rd xf86-video-ati pacman -S catalyst aticonfig --initial -f reboot
i was having soo many problems with the new fglrx driver then i realised i needed a reboot not just a 'end X'/ 'start X'
maybe it could of been done without restarting if i unloaded the previous fglrx module then reloaded?
(i only try to reboot if a new kernel update)

i think you can unload and reload the module to avoid restarting
