After udev upgrade, cannot access some usb and rs232 devices

Hi,

After the recent udev upgrade, I cannot access a PhidgetServo device via usb and my ham radio transceiver via rs232 as a user. As root there is no problem. Both PhidgetServo and transceiver are controlled by home brew software.

This has happened before and I think I fixed it by editing some udev files to add a usb group but I need a way to fix this problem in a more permanent way.

Any ideas please?
