running k3b with only gnome

Like the topic says I only have gnome installed, no kde.  I installed k3b with pacman and that went by with no errors.  Installed the kde libs and all that.

When I run k3b as user, I get the following error:

cdrecord does not run with root privileges
It is highly recommended to configure cdrecord to run with root privileges. Only then cdrecord runs with high priority which increases the overall stability of the burning process. Apart from that it allows changing the size of the used burning buffer. A lot of user problems could be solved this way. This is also true when using SuSE's resmgr.
Solution: Use K3bSetup to solve this problem.

When I run k3bsetup, I get the following error:

./k3bsetup: line 20: kdesu: command not found

Pacman doesn't seem to be able to install just kdesu, so what's the minimum I need to install to get this?  Kinda like to get ktouch I need kdeedu.  Or, how do I take care of what k3bsetup would take care of by myself?

Thanks in advance to those that have been putting up with my stupid questions wink

-rws--x--x 1 root root 324188 Sep 14 22:13 cdrecord

maybe that helps. this is how the permissions on my cdrecord look like

Re: running k3b with only gnome

I am pretty sure kdesu is in kdebase or kdelibs - make sure you have them installed.

Re: running k3b with only gnome

Run k3bsetup by root, this doesn't need kdesu.
kdesu is in kdebase.

Re: running k3b with only gnome

I was trying to run k3bsetup as root before.  I know kdelibs got installed when installing k3b, so I must not have kdebase.  Thank you Mith for the example of how your permissions look on cdrecord.  That will help out a lot I think.  And also thanks for pointing out that I need kdebase.

You guys are great.  Thanks for taking the time to help people (like me) out in these forums!
