[Solved] Kernel 2.6.28 has some weird problems after reboot

I had some weird problem when rebooting with kernel 2.6.28. First you need to know this error is with using initramfs with 2.6.28. Second this is on my livecd from my hard drive. So i don't know how much you guys can help yet.

here is the error:

failed to mount /dev/sda1
EXT2-fs warning: mounting unchecked fs
/dev/sda3
::: Running [archiso]
::: Adding new real_root branch: /live/initrd
(line i can't read)
ERROR: Couldn't mount loop device /live/initrd
            Couldn't mount all addons
Waiting for devices to settle ... done

I think this gives you a idea of whats going on. For some reason loop0 couldn't be found. This never happens on kernel 2.6.27.10. The weird thing is every works fine the first time then this error happens on reboot or poweroff in most cases.

The best i can see is that i may have to added a few seconds so the loop devices can be create.

I hope this helps everyone.

Looks like the new klibc may have solved my problem.

Archlinux Rocks!!

This bug does still happen on reboot. Its just not doing has often then i use to do before the klibc update.

This bug is still not solved then.

Did you rebuild your initrd images?

sudo /sbin/mkinitcpio -p kernel26

And always be sure you aren't cherrypicking just the kernel out of testing. We tend to always upgrade the early userspace stuff with each kernel update, so this includes mkinitcpio as well as klibc-*.

Re: [Solved] Kernel 2.6.28 has some weird problems after reboot

1. the image is always rebuild with archiso-live build scripts.

2. I think this bug has been fixed by make sure that loop0-loop4 were made. From my understanding of the bug was just cause loop0 was not made fast enough to use.

3. The new mkinitcpio and klibc was not made at that time i first posted this. I believed it was my system more then anything else. I just thought it was weird this only happen on reboot.

I hope this helps.

Is madwifi-newhal-svn included in this kernel release?
