hey guys i dont suppose you know of an installable arch livd cd, im using chakra but im not a big fan of kde, i find it untidy and less uniform than gnome.
so it needs to be a gnome live cd thats installable and based on arch

install with Chakra then remove KDE and install gnome? Do you really need a live Cd to install from also? Also the base installer gives you a very flexible install

I recommend you install something quickly installable for now then (Ubuntu for instance) and after your exams take the time to set up a nice Arch system

It only takes about an hour to go from scratch to GNOME desktop + Firefox, OpenOffice, Banshee, Pidgin, and other various applications...

Using a Live CD (with a fully-featured desktop environment) for install sort of goes exactly against the whole point of Arch... IMO, you ought to install something quick and easy for now, then go in for a real Arch install later when you have time to fine-tune the system. It probably takes much shorter than you think -- for me, it's >1 hour, a lot of which is waiting for the system to install/configure packages.

There shouldn't be any reason to learn more editor types than emacs or vi -- mg (1)
