I've just convinced my brother who asked to try out linux to install arch-- and of course everything installed beautifully. He's opted to use Gnome, and was curious about the flashy compiz-fusion window management, so we installed that too.
It's decorating the windows correctly, but we're running into a problem where in the emerald theme manager, any time we make a change, the configuration window stops responding for quite a while. Everything runs fine with compiz running, it's just the configuration window that has this issue.
It's never done this on my desktop (I use xfce, though), so I was wondering if anyone has seen this happen before. Is there some kind of a conflict, or setting that needs to be tweaked? Let me know if any particular config files would be useful to see here.

I've seen the emerald themer buggy like that a lot.

I get it too. I just be patient and it comes back eventually. I'm using compiz standalone.

i have that same problem with emerald lately
it seems to happen only when you have alot of themes installed
i noticed this because in Ubuntu when you install emerald it doesn't come with any themes (and it worked good)
then when you install the themes package it comes with about 20 themes and thats when it starts locking up all the time
when you install emerald in arch i believe it comes with all the themes installed by default which is why it locks up
the solution would probably be to just delete all the themes that you dont want

Ok, thanks for the responses! I guess I just haven't seen it in my desktop because I haven't changed themes in a long time.

Yep, I've had it too - will try deleting themes, thanks.
