Re: Arch Newsletter is not Dead

I just want to say that whether or not the newsletter is on time or not doesnt really matter to me.  It's always fun and entertainig to read, and definetly a treat to discover when im searching through my rss feedsl.   Even if it dissapears (which i doubt the community would let happen) archlinux is an awesome linux distribution and community.

Re: Arch Newsletter is not Dead

The newsletter isn't dead! Here's an exerpt from an email sent to the Arch Dev mailinglist by Kensai...

Hi,

As many of you know by now, I have been brought up to the Arch Linux
Team mostly for the Arch Linux Newsletter. Since then I have also been
interested in some packages, which I have adopted and maintained. But,
nothing last forever, the time I had to do all this things have been
reduced greatly, and will be reduced furthermore when this next
University semester arrives, which hopefully will be my last. Between
work and University, I am going to only have Saturday and Sunday to
actually use my computer in the way I would like. But I have a fiancee
leaving me with only Sunday free at the most.

Because of this, I have come up with a plan, I will orphan all my
packages, but wine I will keep. And will focus on the newsletter, though
in a reduced mode, since (pending announcement) I plan to delegate more
power to another developer.

Re: Arch Newsletter is not Dead

Hi, I am very sorry about this, the newsletter, will be released on February 1st, because of time constraints I couldn't do the past 2 months. But thanks to ghost1227, you have the answer about what was happening to the newsletter. February is the latest Newsletter I will completely Author, after that, Ronald van Haren (pressh) is going to be the new Author of the newsletter, and I will move on to be the editor in chief. This will bring a better newsletter, since I will have the power to bring in my ideas for the newsletter, and pressh will have the power to implement his. So, after missing 2 months, it was worth the wait, the newsletter, is about to become better.

And yes I have already began work on the February edition, and is coming out beautifully. wink

Thanks for your understanding.

Re: Arch Newsletter is not Dead

don't be sorry! that's really something i can't stand, people complaining about others free contributions... the worst case, seen too many times "that wiki article should be updated", i'm boiling when i read this and i'm a very calm person... kensai, i enjoyed any newsletter issue and if it's delayed, it's just life and i guess it'll be even better when it'll be released!

Re: Arch Newsletter is not Dead

I want to clarify something that some of you may not know about kensai, and the primary reason that the newsletter is sometimes a bit late. He asked me not to talk about it, but I thought that our closely nit family of 20,000+ should know:

kensai is an aspiring Coquî herder. As you can imagine, it's a difficult task and takes much concentration, time, and effort. So please be forgiving.

OH MY GOD OH MY GOD. I thought you were going to tell them about that *other* thing Kensai asked us not to discuss! ;-)

No. Herding one of these:

is a completely different concept than herding on of these:

Hardly! Both of those are... um, existing.

Re: Arch Newsletter is not Dead

Coqui herding is very hard, as a young fella living in PR I did some herding just like all young ones do while growing up. Takes lot of patience herding frogs smaller than a quarter

Re: Arch Newsletter is not Dead

LOL, @ skottish story

Anyways, we rarely see coquis in Puerto Rico nowadays. They are very rare, in the meantime they are killing them in the most cruel manner in Hawaii, with a chemical that makes them suffer for 45 minutes before completely killing them. Some moron wanted to see if coquis could be herd in a place other than PR, and he took them to Hawaii, and created a plague. I'm here hoping to see one, and there they are lots of them, but are being killed.

OK, I got it out of the system, now...

At least the story captures some reality, living in the current economic situation is stressful, even though PR is not being affected as hardly as the USA, but the effects sometimes is delayed a bit, soo it will be as USA or worse. Sadly.

EDIT: Through all the skottish story I was like, hmmmm??? what did I tell him?
