[SOLVED] - kmail/akregator woes

Hi,

Arch newbie here with good debian/kubuntu background.

In Kubuntu 8.10 I had a fully functioning kontact suite with a gmail, yahoo and a couple of other email addresses as well as a number of RSS feeds for which I loaded the website in kontact.

I copied all kontact related files from both ~/.kde/share/apps and ~/.kde/share/config - something which I had done successfully before across distros. But this time, unfortunately, I found some issues:

kmail refuses to connect to one of the pop servers !? Sending mail using smtp is fine, but pop3 refuses.

Since I can offer no explanation I thought I'd air the issue to get some ideas. Could it have something to do with certificates (of which I know nothing sad )

akregator does not load some websites. While it behaves in the case of the BBC it refuses to do so for the http://forum.kde.org/ feed, for example. Again, I have no explanation and would welcome any hints.

I am using kontact 1.3, kmail 1.10.3 and akregator 1.3.3 fwiw.

I never could solve the above issues. Upgrading to KDE4.2 unstable sorted it smile
