unable to mount dvd+R

hello been playing with arch for a few months now, love it. i try and read, search for answers however i cant fix this one

i can mount,read, burn cd, dvd -R. usb and external drives mount ok

but data dvd +R (which was burnt on a different linux box) wont mount on this box: openbox, thunar, arch

i know it is prolly obvious but so far i come up scratching my head, is there a way to add dvd +R capabilities?

Stupid question but your drive does support +r doesn't it?

Ok there is dvdrwtools and dvd+rwtools in the repos
Make sure that the latter is installed.

If nothing works then consider giving Isobuster a try, it's a windows program but runs fine with wine.
But anyway you shouldn't need anything to read a dvd+r other than a compatible drive, maybe your drive can't read that particular dvd (dvd brand + other burner recording strategy)

thank you for the kind replies, i couldn't get back to the computer for the last few days

other dvds work and cd's burn and read fine

i installed the dvd+rw tools from the repos but that didn't seem to do the trick

the door on my dvd drive says "RW" then underneath it says "DVD + R DL" http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6827151066

not a huge problem, just would be nice to fix and/or understand what i'm doing incorrectly

According to the manufacturer it should support reading and writing dvd+rw http://www.samsung.com/us/consumer/deta … fullspec=F

Most probably you just got a bad dvd (or batch of dvds) or your drive has some incompatibility with those specific dvds, happens quite often.
I would say try a newer firmware but most of the firmware update programs are for windoze
