Arch news

Hi
Lately i have been lurking on these forums too long and i feel a bit guilty. So in order to remove the guilty consciousness of wasting time, i have decided to do something constructively ;-) ...

Which is http://archnews.tumblr.com/ which contains

Any junk that i find interesting on arch forums or mailing list.Includes news about latest important package updates and breakages. And steamy controversies and flames on the BBS.So for your daily cup of arch news subscribe to http://archnews.tumblr.com

Any ideas and contributions are welcome.

PS: Is there any problem in using "Arch" in the title?

Neat! If you're planning on pulling info like this out anyway, you might be a welcome contributor to the currently sleeping newsletter. Let Kensai know if you're interested, I think he'd be glad to have some help right now.

Re: Arch news

bookmarked.  are you planning on getting all arch news + choice bits from the newsletter, or just choice bits from all around?

also, semi-offtopic: do the newsletters have rss or does one need to subscribe to them to view latest messages?

Kensai has been looking for someone to do a forum summary for the newsletter for a while.  So I also encourgae you to lend him a hand if possible.

I will be glad to help him on the newsletter... let us watch how this thing works for a few weeks ...  If it works properly then consolidating a months archive for the news letter wont be much of a work....May be we can even give a link/rss feed on the main page.

And this will work better if everybody contributes. Please post a link to the bits you find interesting and/or would be helpful to others. Or things which may break on Syu with workarounds.

Re: Arch news

u_no_hu: I absolutely love this!  It looks like it's a great list that is going to cover some of the smaller (but exciting) events in the Arch world.  I'm a total linux news junkie and am going to love more frequent information.

Re: Arch news

As far as news goes, we (whordijk and myself) just finished translating the Beginner's Guide to Dutch language.

I'll be sinking my teeth into tranlating more core documents into dutch ^^

Re: Arch news

I have changed the RSS feed to feedburner which allows to keep track of subscribers and various other stats. The existing url will continue to work, but please switch to the new feed http://feeds.feedburner.com/arch_news which gives better feedback . Thanks and sorry for the inconvenience.

More people have probably stored the site in bookmarks. Like me. I don't like RSS and I think your site is great. I put it in my "crontab/daily" bookmarks folder.

Re: Arch news

Can we have a link to this on the wiki front page or beginners guide which will give it a bit more exposure. I know its not an official project but still it will be useful for the newcomers to Arch and those who don't have tons of free time for browsing the forums. smile

I stickied the topic so hopefully that helps.

I was surprised to see something I only posted to the mailing list on there.  Keep up the good work!
