Since I'm getting into C programming right now I want to use a text editor to edit my code, I use Eclipse with PHP and other languages but I don't like the CDT plugin and since I'm on the early stages I'll be better of doing things 'manually'. What I'm looking for is one of these 2 features:
-Snippets or something of sorts
-Perhaps autocompletion or calltips
Right now I'm learning to use vim, but I'm a noob at it right now.
So any suggestions?, besides vim of course .

Geany comes to mind.

+1. It's really nice.

If you like Eclipse you may like Netbeans.
It has support for C/C++ or so it says:
C/C++ support, including editing, projects, GDB debugger and make
I like it because it has a good number of plug ins so as you progress in your coding skills you can add "features" but since it is within the same environmet you do not have to re-learn anything, it just adding to what you know.
You can get it with pacman.

gVim is almost as big as Geany without Vim.

bluefish 1.3.1 is out. I don't quite like bluefish, but I really really want to like bluefish. It has, among other things, pretty cool snippet functionality.

I also wouldn't say gVim is less featured than Geany...
The day Microsoft makes a product that doesn't suck, is the day they make a vacuum cleaner.

But if they tell you that I've lost my mind, maybe it's not gone just a little hard to find...

Where do we insert emacs in there?

This topic pops up quite regularly... Well we have this in the wiki: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Com … xt_Editors - Someone should add a "Comparison of Editors" page like has been done for some other sections.
So should I close this to force people to contribute to that page...

For anyone that knows editors fairly well and haven't seen this:
http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=62216
we can use your help. We'd like to get to a place in the future when all of these threads can be simply redirected.

I checked the wiki and the link that Allan provided and I did tried them. I'm in favor of adding a comparison of text editors so that people, like me, who haven't decided on a text editor can try em out. Recently I found Scribes, and I'm testing it right now.
