Hi,
I recently updated my system. I have all the latest stuff including the latest xorg. However during the lastest update alot of KDEmod stuff was upgraded and things got messed up.
Everything loads up as usual. I get my nvidia splash screen and then usually I would get the KDM login manager and then loginto KDEmod4.1. However now after the nvidia splash screen all I get is a blinking cursor. I can get into other virtual sessions and mess around.
The wierdst part is that occasionally it lets me into KDM without any problems. So despite working one minute it wouldn't work the next, even though I have not changed any settings.
I would post my Xorg.conf and Xorg.0.log here but since I am on a different computer that would prove to be quite a challenge. However this much I can tell you. The xorg.conf does not produce any errors or even warnings in the log. My xorg.conf is completely minimal and only indicates that the "nvidia" driver should be used.
When I look into my errors log I found this:
"date/time" myhost kdm[3344]: X server startup timeout, terminating
"date/time" myhost kdm[3344]: X server for display :0 cannot be started, session disabled
When I type "startx" I get a warming from the XKEYBOARD keymap compiler (xkbcomp).
However it tells me that:
Errors from xkbcomp are not fatal to the X server
waiting for X Server to shut down
This error does not seem to appear in my Xorg log.
Any idea how I could fix this?

Ok.
So for some reason things are working again. I installed the Nvidia-beta drivers which didn't work and then I installed the normal nvidia drivers. Then everything worked again. However I have restarted my system. I just thought I would post my Xorg.conf:
