I made the mistake of running Orca to see what it would do. It enabled Assistive Technologies, and now I can't get rid of the icon from the Notification Area. I have disabled it in System -> Preferences -> Assistive Technologies, as well as disabled its services that run on start-up as listed in System -> Preferences -> Sessions. But, the icon persists after restarting. Any ideas on how to kill this thing?

Problem solved. System -> Preferences -> Keyboard -> Accessibility needed to be disabled as well.
