Hello all,
I have successfully installed arch linux. The main tools I use is gcc/make/... I have found all the tools, but I have not found a way to install the info pages of make.
Can anybody give me a hint?
Thank you
Helmut

Arch doesn't install docs. I don't agree with this myself. Hard drive is so cheap it's not worth it....
Documentation is always available online.

Oh yes. Arch installs a lot of documentation. All the infopages of emacs, gcc, g++, automake .... are available.
But the infopages of make are missing.
I am sure they are somewhere in the repo. The question is just WHERE?

I'm guessing that make has not been rebuilt since the policy of including docs was introduced. Rebuild make using ABS and you should get the info pages.

How can I rebuild make using ABS? Can you give me some hints?
Thanks
Helmut

Sure - not a hint but a full blown walkthrough...

Thank you. I have tried it.
I have installed abs, run it, copied /var/abs/core/make into my userdir.
Then running makepkg -s I get the error:
==> ERROR: PKGBUILD does not exist
What went wrong?

Sorry, forget the error. I have been in the wrong directory.
Now the rebuild has been successful.
I can see the info pages with "info make".
The only thing I am still missing: I cannot see the info pages within emacs (ctrl h i).
But first of all thank you, because I have at least the info pages on my machine and can read the offline.
Has anybody an idea what I have to do to see the installed infopages in emacs?

I did some searching and found on the GNU site the Emacs Wiki... from there, http://www.emacswiki.org/emacs/InfoMode
From there: http://www.emacswiki.org/emacs/InfoPath
Perhaps you can check that variable and compare it to where the info pages are stored for make?
