Re: Glibc reported as corrupted on -Syu (Solved in part!)

Suspect the problem is kde related...had several craches while trying to write this comment.

Wonder if I can reload Kde without using pacman??

If I can't fix pacman...can't fix kde..ha ha!

New bug fixes out for Kde today but how to get them?

Need to reload...

Re: Glibc reported as corrupted on -Syu (Solved in part!)

you have [current] listed two times,
first in /etc/pacman.conf and also in the Include file,
maybe that's confusing pacman,

arch + gentoo + initng + python = enlisy

Re: Glibc reported as corrupted on -Syu (Solved in part!)

In reviewing the pacman log it seems my problem started after download of bash-3.0-2.

The results of latest efforts at resolving the problem are included in the following list of steps.  I first entered an ftp in the [current] section of pacman.conf. before proceeding with the listing below:

Re: Glibc reported as corrupted on -Syu (Solved in part!)

The error you are getting about "config:line 3...." does not seem to be preventing the actual operation of pacman so perhaps can be put to one side for a moment.
Your pacman -Syu command appears to have failed only on the basis of a minor file conflict, so I would suggest you rename opt/kde/share/mimelnk/audio/x-ms-wma.desktop  to
opt/kde/share/mimelnk/audio/x-ms-wma.desktop.old
and then run pacman -Syu again.  Assuming everything still works after the upgrade you can then delete the "old" file you renamed as a backup.

Re: Glibc reported as corrupted on -Syu (Solved in part!)

Used mv command to change the file extension to .old....

The result is identical when    pacman -Syu is entered...file conflicts as before.

Re: Glibc reported as corrupted on -Syu (Solved in part!)

Solved the remaining difficulty in downloading the kde pkgs for upgrade by deleting kmplayer:

pacman -Rd kmplayer

Then pacman -Syu performed the install of all the programs listed including glibc.

Thanks to all for the help!

Have yet to restore the file set to .old.!!!
