When typing keyword into browser, redirects to isp search engine

If i type in something into the browser bar (either epiphany or firefox) it redirects me to my isp's web search, or sometimes, the first search result if specific enough. How can i instead default this to google?

Re: When typing keyword into browser, redirects to isp search engine

Got Vimperator?

'ds' 'defsearch'
'defsearch' 'ds'
string (default: "google")

Sets the default search engine. The default search engine name is used in the :[tab]open [arg] command if [arg] neither looks like a URL or like a specified search engine/keyword.

This means, it you set 'defsearch' to "youtube", then :open arnold schwarzenegger will be exactly the same as :open youtube arnold schwarzenegger. Therefore, you need to add a keyword or search engine "youtube" first.

I have noticed that changing DNS servers changes the behavior.

I wonder if a dns daemon can change this?

You could try using opendns.com which always gives a search behavior.
