Hard Disk Protection in 2.6.28

Hi.

According to the changelog of the kernel 2.6.28. it should include harddisk shock protection.
How can I check if the protection works? Is it necessary to activate it?

Try dropping your laptop and see if it boots up again without errors afterwards.
