s2ram does not work, laptop is not in the user list. and none of its options or combinations work.
pm-suspend does not work either.
either using gnome's shutdown window or running #pm-suspend do suspend the notebook, but once you try to wake it up, there is a complete freeze. screen is not lit, and sysrq key combinations dont work either (they are enabled, and already tested).
the output of /var/log/pm-suspend.log:

anyone experienced a similar problem?
thanks

Most common reason for failed wakeups is a broken driver/module (or more of them). psmouse module was causing my laptop to freeze while resuming, you can start with that (use pm-utils SUSPEND_MODULES).
More information on suspend debugging:
http://www.mjmwired.net/kernel/Document … /s2ram.txt
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelSuspend
You need to install an RTFM interface.

followed those guidelines..........
built a kernel with PM_TRACE support.
done what it suggiests........ yet, output doesnt help.......
here is a snippet of dmesg's output (where it should matter)
...

so, i get the magic number line, but its not followed by any hash line. so, there isnt much i can do about it......can anyone drop a line here? im stumped as to where to run....

bumping with more info:
ive been searching around, and found someone that experienced the same problem here: http://fixunix.com/kernel/556655-suspen … e-duo.html
now the suggestions was to remove a commit patch from the new kernel to see if it was causing the problem, is there a way to find out which patch that commit refers to in order to revert it and test if it is indeed the same problem?
right now im building 2.6.27.3 to see if suspend works there....

I have to double your post, sadly it worked a week ago, but not anymore, my logs are same as the already posted
After pressing the power button to wakeup the system, nothing appear in the logs, only black screen, only poweroff helps.
I tried different quirks, without success
I guess that there is something with the kernel(dbus hal acpi), as the gnome-power-manager stopped to show the suspend/hibernate actions.
Thats pretty unpractical, the new xorg didn't succeed to disrupt my work, but now without sleep its pretty bad.

I still believe we experienced the same trouble
I've been able to suspend, and on wake I had freeze (no logs), same as you
turned out that i had to downgrade
here the nice mirror http://archlinux.umflint.edu/ :
http://archlinux.umflint.edu/core/os/i686/kernel26-2.6.27.4-1-i686.pkg.tar.gz
and
http://archlinux.umflint.edu/extra/os/i686/laptop-mode-tools-1.42-1-i686.pkg.tar.gz
only kernel downgrade wasn't sufficient
I hope this will get fixed

downgrading is not an option for me..... since downgrading renders this laptop useless (another bug which got fixed recently). so. i will wait this one out for now, did all i got in my power
Offline
try to downgrade at least the laptop-mode-tools
I really hope to see a fix for it.
Personally I will skip updating these 2 packages until the second 2.6.28 kernel.
Good luck!

thanx a lot!!! downgrading solve my problems!!!!

qstreb, how did you come to conclusion that laptop-mode-tools needs downgrading? (is there some bug report, please provide me with a link)
I run into some trouble with hibernate/suspend on linux 2.6.28, and solved it with disabling ALPM for Intel SATA controllers (or so I believe). It turns out that laptop-mode-tools introduced support for the same in 1.43 (Arch packages went from 1.42 to 1.45). If it's true you could also solve your problems and stay up to date. Please see this comment for more information http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/12599#comment36777
Thank you.

Suspend have never worked for me on my MSI laptop, no matter what kernel I was using and so on. My experience is pretty much the same as anyone's having trouble with suspension - the system never wakes up, and the LCD stays off. I will have to make a good use of some tips presented in this thread and maybe then I find a solution.
"... being a Linux user is sort of like living in a house inhabited by a large family of carpenters and architects. Every morning when you wake up, the house is a little different. Maybe there is a new turret, or some walls have moved. Or perhaps someone has temporarily removed the floor under your bed."

Hi anrxc,
Currently I am very low on time
The reason I didnt post this as bug - I first post it in the Samsung NC10 thread.
Anyway nobody there confirmed my trouble,
and as we are expecting major changes with 2.6.28 + X + intel drivers
I've just put a freeze until feb on my kernel+laptop-modes+alsa 1.0.18A
The description you made in http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/12599#comment36777
is 1:1 to what I experienced (post 5 on this thread).

Does anyone have working suspend to RAM on any of MSI's GX6**-series laptops?

new update.
during my attempts to get hibernate to work, i managed to get it working somehow, but half of acpi features, functions were down. battery wasnt being found for example.
when this happened, i hit the suspend button and it worked, but then after a normal boot, when everything worked, it went back to the regular behaviour, after resuming, the screen lights up, with whatever is left in vc/1 but i need to do a cold reboot. not even sysrq (which are enabled, btw) work.
anyone knows where to go from here? how can i disable acpi functions before suspend, and bring them back later? or am i just talking nonsense?
