Here's my setup:
I have a normal monitor attached to the VGA out of my Graphic's card and a flatscreen TV on the DVI out. I use the TV mostly for watching video.
I set this up quite a while ago, and it worked like a charm for a long time. The way I operated I always started a second X that ran on the big screen, and switched between instances with Ctrl+Alt+F7/8.
After I moved, I didn't set up the TV for a couple of months, and when I finally got around to it, nothing worked like it used to anymore. From what I can tell, one of the updates I made in the meantime has changed the way multi-screen works, and I even heard that my xorg.conf might need a complete rewrite now. I don't, however, even know where to start, so I'd appreciate any information you might be able to provide.
Here's the output of xrandr -q:

As you can see, my DVI output doesn't even feature...
EDIT: I've made the second screen work now.
Issuing "startx -- :1 -screen FlatTV" gets me output on the TV, but now all my inputs don't work anymore. I had to ssh into my box to kill the second instance of X. I have no idea what to do about this. I'll ask this in another thread, I think...
I'll leave this thread if someone wants to explain xrandr to me.

I always roll 20s on my disbelieve checks.
You better believe it.
