When you're trying to edit a large page on the wiki you get this message:
WARNING: This page is 40 kilobytes long; some browsers may have problems editing pages approaching or longer than 32kb. Please consider breaking the page into smaller sections.
Firefox can handle the 40kb but not the 107kb of the Begginers Guide for example.
And when you do a change, if you dont preview it you get a shiny blank page instead of the document.
I was trying to add one line to the Oficcial installation guide and ended up breaking it into two parts (i move the apendix to another page) to be able to recover it's contents.
Some other person form #archlinux that was helping me with this issue also accidentally override the text from the Beginners guide, and we can't roll back it. So, any WikiAdmin can roll back the changes on the Beginners guide? and tell us (the normal users) how to edit long pages.
Thanks

For future reference, don't edit the whole page at once, just edit a section of it. When you are logged in, every section have a 'edit' button/link.

It is a known problem. It's probably a wrong setting in the Wiki engine, which ought to be fixed. I don't know why it hasn't been yet, though... Not editing the whole page at once is a possibility, but if you'd like to add or adjust page meta data you're just screwed.

Thanks for the advice, the next time i'll only edit sections.
I think this behaviour makes more difficult that more people edit pages on the wiki, you stumble across an strange error message and you fly away, or you break something ...

Now that the whole beginners guide page has been vandalized, how can we revert it?

I think vandalized is a pretty uncorrect term. I was trying to information to the official installation guide and the guy that messed up the Begginers Guide was trying to help me.
Any of the Wiki administrators can revert this.

You need to edit the whole page to edit the top of it though.
The system has failed.

Sorry. I realized that. I am an active wiki contributor elsewhere, and had some cases when pages were wandalized.

I seem to be able to only rollback the last persons changes. Seem so many people edited the article after it was broken, I guess we need to wait for someone with full admin powers to fix it.

Or put it back together in pieces, but that will sort of break the history.

allan, why don't you invoke to wiki's daemon (misfit)?. I guess he might handle this situation.
And... why not to place a very big fat warning about these 32 kb?. I guess it would be very good for everyone to 'suggest' wiki editting by sections.
I hope misfit don't set on fire to all of us... :S
They say that if you play a Win cd backward you hear satanic messages. That's nothing! 'cause if you play it forwards, it installs windows.

Let's hope that phrak don't decide to help out. We all know what happens to his servers. *cough*

Fixed this tonight guys. I want to mention that I find it absurd to have any wiki page over what was the 65000 byte limit on our post sizes, but I've raised it to 200000 bytes. I WILL NOT raise this again. No never no way no how.

Just a suggestion...
Since the beginners guide is one of the important pages, cant we lock that with only admins have access and have another page as beginners guide sandbox? . Then wiki admin can just update the main page with whatever edits have been done by others in sandbox. May be we can even have somebody as beginners guide maintainer...

Some other person here, sorry about that accidental Beginner's guide trash up
