Mouse works when it feels like it

Arch64, using a Razor Diamondback (in good condition) connected via USB (obviously!).

Here is my problem, the mouse works when it feels like it. Sometimes it works at boot, sometimes it doesn't. When it doesn't, restarting X doesn't help.

Hmm!
Any ideas?

Re: Mouse works when it feels like it

Try to add psmouse to your module list in rc.conf. Also use new hotplugging in Xorg :  http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Xor … otplugging

Here is my xorg.conf for referance:

Section "ServerLayout"
Identifier "Xorg Configured"
Screen 0 "Screen" 0 0
EndSection

Section "Files"
ModulePath "/usr/lib/xorg/modules"
FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/misc:unscaled"
FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/misc"
FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/75dpi:unscaled"
FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/75dpi"
FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/100dpi:unscaled"
FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/100dpi"
FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/PEX"
FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/cyrillic"
FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/Type1"
FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/ttf/western"
FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/ttf/decoratives"
FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/truetype"
FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/truetype/openoffice"
FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-bitstream-vera"
FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/latex-ttf-fonts"
FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/defoma/CID"
FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/defoma/TrueType"
EndSection

Section "Module"
Load "ddc"
Load "dbe"
Load "dri"
Load "extmod"
Load "glx"
Load "bitmap"
Load "freetype"
Load "synaptics"
EndSection

Section "ServerFlags"
Option "AllowMouseOpenFail" "true"
EndSection

Section "Monitor"

EndSection

Section "Device"

Re: Mouse works when it feels like it

psmouse module might not work. Write this to root console: hwdetect --show-modules , then look at the INPUT line.

You can also try adding usbinput to the HOOKS in /etc/mkinitcpio.conf and rebuilding you kernel with mkinitcpio -p kernel26
