Yesterday I updated the system to the latest kernel. After that my USB mouse was frozen.
So I tried to solve the problem by adding the following line in xorg.conf:
Option "AllowEmptyInput" "false"
But things becomes worse. When I reboot my computer and input username/passwd in GDM, the input characters are automatically duplicated. For example, the input "litao" becomes "llliiitttaaaooo" or sometimes "lililitttaoaoao". So the login attempts are always failed.
And more badly, I cannot use "alt-F2" to enter the command-line mode to modify xorg.conf. I tried to use the fallback mode at startup, but GDM is launched again.
I have no idea what I can do now. Anyone can help me? Thanks a lot!!!

do a forum search or have a look at this...

drivers are installed?

Thanks a lot!
But the first problem is that I cannot login the system to modify xorg.conf. Is there any method to launch the system and enter the command mode directly without GDM?

Don't know how to do it exactly, but you could try booting from a live-cd/dvd/usb-stick and mount your system. Then you could edit your config files.

Boot into single user mode, by editing your grup entry. Just hit "e" for edit and append "single" to your grub entry then boot. You should be able to login, disable GDM, then fix your Xorg settings etc..

Thanks a lot! Finally I login the system by using the bootable CD and then fix the problem in xorg.conf. :-)
Now waiting for the solution of USB mouse, which is not usable after upgrading to the latest kernal.
