Hello!
I installed Awesome 3 on my MSI Wind, but I'm not sure how to do networking stuf. Like WiFi? I don't mind the command line, but coming from OS X, I'd like a smooth way to find and connect to various "hotspots" in coffee shops if I'd happen to visit one.
I know of both NetworkManager and WICD, but the catch to those is that they seem to more or less depend on a system tray, which is something I'd rather not use. Some easy-to-use, lightweight and fancy ncurses application would do well enough for me I think.
Thanks in advance!

Take a look at: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Network_profiles , and use that for your known networks.
You can use the "ifconfig" and "iwlist" commands to scan for and connect to other networks. Check the manpages for information.
br0tat0chip in #archlinux and on freenode

try netcfg2.....
and wicd doesnt depend on systray... you can use the application by itself without the systray.
