Strange it is working for me now too.

I figured out what is going on. The repository isn't blocked for those authenticated against my network at work. For those not authenticated websense asks you to press continue. I should have thought about that one.

kget is a part of kdeutils, methinks.

Yeah, I got busy with some Christmas stuff with the grandkids, had dinner, did some web surfing, finally got back around to it and found that out for myself with some 'man pacman'. Thanks anyway, and all is well again.
Now I have a script for uninstalling kde4 and installing kde3 (and vice versa).
Maybe when kde4.2 comes out final I'll give it another try.

Alsa is muted by default. See the wiki: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/ALS … s_and_test
to unmute and get sound going.

Thanks for making this available. I got here indirectly; a new x86_64 install beside my i686 install (i686 runs Xfce4) now that Flash is working. I tried LxDE, which is blazing fast - for a good reason: it does very little, of course. And I was 'bored' was Xfce4.
I *knew* I wanted nothing to do w/KDE4. I decided you had the sanest path to KDE3 (which I'd used, vanilla, a couple of years ago, and liked - but I'm a speed demon...), and that certainly appears to be the case. Running very smoothly, overall (and I'm looking for 2x1GB DDR-800 ).
One very interesting note: I saw way back on the first page of this thread (last post on page 1 - ~ 2 yrs ago?) someone mentioned they'd had a menu directory (KControl, IIRC) get renamed to 'lost+found' (i.e., deleted) during the install.
When I finished the KDE3 install (using your repo), everything looked great - except my system menu had a 'lost+found' entry. I clicked on it, and the famous links to Arch were there (with no icon, either). I simply renamed it (using the menu editor!) from 'lost+found' to 'ArchLinux' and later stumbled across its icon. All is fine; however, it does appear to me there's a long-standing issue with this at install time under certain (possibly rare - I do things weird...) circumstances. If you want any info from me about my setup, pacman.log, etc, just ask.
Also, with the /etc/profile/kde3.sh approach (being tossed into .bashrc), every time you either start a new X session, or sign out and back in (haven't determined which yet) to the system, you get another "/opt/kde/share:" prepended to XDG_DATA_DIRS (and I suspect it isn't alone in this regard - there's a lot of that going on where this occurs). It gets added every time; I noticed once on my system where XDG_DATA_DIRS had three "/opt/kde/share:" nodes prepended. Not harmful; not elegant, either...
I'm certainly not trying to sound like a naysayer. All installed smooth as glass for the most part. Sound and Flash/YouTube videos were working in Firefox, bam-bam-bam. Performance seems about what I remember it to be. I'm keeping LxDE installed for the situations where I wanna surf with 30 tabs open and don't mind limited functionality elsewhere (LxDE was *blistering* fast running ONLY FF3).
Does K3B work with this setup? I realise I have a lot of RTFM'ing to do. Getting on that now...
Thanks again!

I have updated the repository to use some of the packages from [testing].
There were some changes in bluetooth libraries, that's the reason.
But still, even before, the gnokii shouldn't complain.
You need to have [kde3] repository above all the others in pacman.conf.

I think you should ask on kdemod's forum. This thread is not about kdemod.

Is the error I am getting an arch or kdemod issue? Sorry in advance for posting to the wrong thread if its a kdemod issue.

tanis, you have bluez-4.25-1 and kdebluetooth-1.0_beta8-1. Does those two work together? I thought that they were incompatible. I updated and it doesn't work for me. kbluetooth couldn't find a device installed.
