hi
first, what works: when the pc starts up and no disk is in the drive, and i insert one afterwards, everything is fine. i can watch a dvd, and afterwards take it out again. i use thunar as a file manager, can take out the disk through him when he mounted it.
but when a disk is in on startup, i cant open the drive, i have to umount /dev/cdrom as root to take it out. a bit bothersome
i used openbox before, and since a few weeks awesome wm, so no de is running.
how can i fix this?

Is it there in /etc/fstab?

Give us your fstab. I suspect you have auto in your dvd line.

#/dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom auto ro,user,auto,unhide 0 0
/dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom auto ro,user,noauto,unhide 0 0
now everything works exactly as it should!
Thanks!
