[SOLVED] - modem woes

Hi,

I've tried the wiki, a new install - just about everything and I still cannot get Arch to talk to my neither of my modems. One is a built-in slmodem and the other a pcmcia card umts modem - dmesg tells me it is under ttyS2 but that is as far as it goes.

Are there any special modules one needs for modems?

I don't understand the world anymore. Please help me!

I reinstalled eventually what with ext4 and the 2009.1 beta installer...

I am not sure what the problem was with the old install. Perhaps I forgot to pack something (pptoe or whatever) into the kernel? No idea, but it is working fine now.
