recently switched from the git packages to plain compiz-fusion. everything works fine except explode. enabled explode in the animation add-ons and animations in the ccsm. but in preferences it doesn't show up in either the enabled or the disabled plugins. has it been removed from the packages?

If you just switched from GIT to the stable versions, it's probably an experimental animation.
