Graphical login on different VC?
In Fedora 10, graphical login takes place on virtual console 1, instead of the traditional virtual console 7. The effect is an increase in performance of some kind (I'm not sure). If I wanted to experiment with this, how would I make kdm3 run on vc1?

/etc/inittab runs agetty on the vc/s. Any that are not bound will be used for X. e.g. I have commented out 3-6 making X start on vc/3. If you start on runlevel 5 and never use vc/s I guess it can't hurt to comment them all, but having at least one is recommended for emergencies.
Except for easier switching do not expect any advantages! Especially performance gain.
A quiet agetty takes up like 2KB (I'm not even sure if that is buffers/cache) and no CPU.
So don't bother.
